A good thing to do would be to ask if you can do some work experience at a business for a week or so... government is always good for that, and sometimes they will ask you back after your work experience to do some paid work. I did that at the ACT Dept. of Education and Community Services, got asked to work for 4 weeks and earnt $5000 for those 4 weeks
But even if you don't get asked back you'll still have the experience of working in an office. The real problem is that most employers in this sort of field want full time, trained staff so they don't have to pay to train someone that they take on, and don't have to go through the whole process of finding someone again after 2 or 3 months.
As Ian said, there's nothing wrong with a job at a place like Coles, or in my case at Oporto. Just remember that any experience is still experience. If you can hold down a job for any reasonable length of time, then future employers will know that your committed to working as well.
