Hi, my name is James (Xiao Fei) Hu from Fort Street High School.

Phone: 9745 6946
Mobile: 0410343187
Email: ~Jigga_who_dr_hu@hotmail.com~ (feel free to add me to MSN for a chat)
Current student base: 16
Cost: $25 per hour. $20 per hour for groups.

I will provide all notes, past papers and the best information available for economics and english so you don't waste time copying textbooks and can focus on actually learning. Most importantly, i will introduce you to A NEW AND UNIQUE WAY OF THINKING THAT SETS YOU APART FROM THE REST. I have been through most of Sydney's major tutoring services throughout my life and my final private english tutor held a Masters degree in english literature from USYD and is a close friend of the top Jane Austen and Shakespeare critics in Australia as well as other academics and authors like David Williamson (Author of the 3U english play Dead White Males

My tutoring strategy aims to allow you to meet the highest expectations of the subject rubrics while using minimum time and effort in the process. This will allow you to focus more upon other subjects or simply to relax. My strategy thus first provides you with the necessary tools to achieve academic success within the various subjects. After this, the focus will be upon a tactical approach towards any texts and information that places them within a broader conceptual and contextual framework. This will allow you to reduce the quantity of material that needs to be studied by allowing you to recognise and filter only the most relevent information and combining them into coherent arguments or solutions.

FINAL HSC SCORES:

Economics: 97

English Advanced: 92 (this is after i pretty much didn't do the 5 marker in Q1 so this mark doesn't reflect the true quality of my material but does reflect my poor in-exam time management :p)

Eng Ext. 1 : 48/50

Eng Ext. 2: 49/50

Mathematics: 96

Mathematics Ext. 1: hahaha.

Modern History: 94

History Extension: hahaha.

UAI: 99.5 and Dux of Fort Street for 2005

I'm here all holidays and I'll tutor at $20-25 per hour per subject.

This rate is flexible depending on if you come in groups. For example, one group of 3 i am tutoring at $15 an hour. But be mindful that the more people there is, then the progress is potentially slower.

I specialise mainly in English (2, 3 and guidance for 4U) and Economics. I can gurantee that you will not find a much better tutor at my price in these subjects.

For 2U, it doesn't matter what text you're studying for journeys. I can tutor you for all. For the modules, i'd be tutoring Emma/Clueless, King Lear and Frontline.
For 3U, I tutor postmodernism.

Those interested in Modern History must be mindful that my tutoring strategy here is more focused on strategy than content in this subject. However, i think strategy in Modern History is extremely important.

Furthermore, while i do offer mathematics tuition, i'd recommend that you try other people first because there is most likely more skilled people. I know some friends who i could recommend. However, i have many past papers and very very good summary booklets for each topic in both 2U and 3U that are a combination of clear theory and practise questions collected from a range of past papers/school papers/textbooks like cambridge etc. These are for sale.

Also, my History Extension mark wasn't flash but i do have very good notes on both Q1 and Appeasement for Q2 (there was a leak form the marking centre that apparently someone who mentioned dilks and overy in Q2 Appeasement got full marks in tha tquestion. THat person is me :D Which also means i almost failed Q1 lol). Pity i didn't study them except on the day before :p So yes, the notes are on sale.

So in conclusion, if you're one of those people that can't help bludging and needs maxmimum strategy to help you get down the content within minimum time frames, i think i'll be espicially helpful to you.

I am already tutoring 10 students with several more scheduled to start with the holidays.

So having acquired this considerable experience as a tutor, I can confidently say that I will be able to offer you value for your money.

I also have referees (my current students and school teachers) available on request for any interested people to contact should they want an indication of my competence as a tutor and as a person in general.

I live in Burwood but i'm willing to travel to most places not too far away to do the tutoring. Currently, i tutor mostly at Strathfield and city or in other people's houses. As long as i don't have to travel so far that i end up asking "are we there yet?"

I hope to hear from more enthusiastic students soon =)

I'm just a PM and several miles away!!

I wish I didn't complete my HSC so early as I lost the opportunity to be tutored by this man.

I have recently acquired another student. My current students are available for contact if you want some opinions as are my school teachers and advisers. You can also just ring me and we can have a little chat if you're unsure.

haha top UAI this year was 99.85

But see, this guy did 4U maths :p And his 3U maths mark also counted unlike me =(

But Dux is based on actual HSC marks to make it fairer since UAI is affected by scaling.

last year's fort street dux got 99.4... did charlene dux? i heard she got the highest uai anyway and 99.4 is what's stuck in my head.

i too am among the fshs 05ers vouching for james, he is a fucking genius; i helped him marginally in extension two but really he should've been helping me! (except for the fact that i finished it a year before him haha)

that was the case for lots of people though. like my cousin got 90+ in every unit, with marks that basically any other year would've guaranteed at least a 99uai, but she got 97.8 or something.

ps. james is cool. you suck. go away.

haha Erin is so fiesty :) I love it.

I'd just like to report that my student base has now grown to 14 *Oprah Winfrey-ian crowd claps* with the addition of 1 HSC student, one year 11 and hahaha 2 year 8s :p.

With Uni starting soon, i might not be able to teach much more than that. So get on that phone! :)

Oh did i mention i'll provide free basketball coaching as well?

i don't think it was charlene who got dux + highest uai.
i'm pretty sure it was flynn murphy. can't remember what he got though...

I too would like to endorse James and the likely quality of his tutoring services.

Note: I am possessed of Fortian bias, much like several others in this thread.

Hey who's Xiao and how come he's heard so much about me  I'm going to be doing Commerce/Law at UNSW. Are you at UNSW too?

And to clear things up, Dux of 04 was Flynn. Highest UAI was Ange.
