Hey guys, just wondering if anyone could give me a hand with this question in the 2013 Specimen exam paper. I'm usually really good with pictorial drawings, but this one has me really confused :S
All help is appreciated! Thankyou! :)

Hard to explain without drawing it out, but it's an angle bracket. Bottom face has a countersunk hole in it and a sort of bevelled or angled edge and is square, and the vertical face has one rounded corner and one square corner, as well as a hole through.

I'll see about drawing it out if I can find some time later today, unless you've already figured it out.

ahhhh I see! Was wondering what those dashed lines at the bottom were..
That's alright, no need to draw it, you've done enough! It helped plenty
Thankyou!

Prepare thy anus.
Also, what answer did you get for question 13 in the multiple choice on the specimen paper?

Shear Stress= Force/Cross-Sectional Area

therefore: 150x10^3/50x5 (its 50 because the length of the punch is 25, and thats half the length the plate)
=600MPa
then: 600MPa/2 (divided by two because the punch is half the plate as above ^ in brackets)
=300MPa
:)

anyone know anything about PCD (Pitched circle diameter)? Q16e 2009 HSC has something about it and in the answers i can't seem to understand what they did or if it has anything to do with the PCD:s
i have attached both the question and solution. If anybody can explain the part of the solution on the left, separated to the rest, it would awesome!!2009 Q16 e).png2009 Q16 e) solution.png

btw i have no clue what u did in Q13.
i was taught when u want shear stress, the area in question is the perimeter multiplied by the thickness.
hence, stress = (15x10^3)/(4x0.025x0.005)=300MPa

^^^^ Makes more sense , goodluck today lads! Remember when answering questions, if your answer sounds logical, you're probably wrong.
