well its really just up to you. Are you really that eager in engineering ? Do you want to go ? Why? Ask yourself these things to see if you really think its worth it.

hmm yeah true. Hey Black_Hawker, what made you want to kinda be an engineer and what made you so interested in it? I seem to have doubts now .. I'm not sure of what I want to be. =/ I always thought I may do engineer, but now I'm not sure ..

engineering is the way for the future, just recently the local govt of nsw couldn't build some highway or bridge thingy because of lack of engineers, Australia needs more engineers

what even better, Dubai's Prince invested HEAPS HEAPS HEAPS OF CASH into the engineering field in Dubai, work in Dubai in the future tons of money whatsmore if u work in Dubai, what u earn is TAX FREE!!!

Dubai is famous for its 7 star hotel, if you walk into the hotel it cost u $80!!!!

LOL ! omggg .. i heard that on the radio about the lacking of engineers to finish the roads in NSW .. but they said that was to have it finished by like 2009 and i was like .. oh FINE ! lol i felt a little rejected .. and yeahh .. but I know the money can be real nice .. but part of me has kinda gotten over that and the fact that the UAI for engineering at UTS is like 85, it kinda makes me less motivated kos its kinda low compared to what I was planning to get which was >90. Now I'm just like meh. Plus in class some of the stuff like brakes (OMG HOW BORING) is just like so tedious and i feel like i don't want to know about things like that. Lol .. im so unsure. ><"

I wanted a career that would improve people life (higher standard of living). It was also in shortage. I researched about it and to me it was something I find interesting.

Don't worry about thee 85. It's low because not enough engineers are going into it, so they need to lower the UAI.

The thing you are doing engineering studies now will seem really dumb/lame when you go out into the actual world of engineering.

Hope this helps...

hmm yeahh it does a little actually .. But I guess the reason for me choosing engineering in the first place is because I have no other idea so I just kinda set it as my partial goal .. is that okay ? LOL or am i just retarted ? ..

Na, that's ok. :p

I probably still not sure about my choice. You will never know until you get into an engineering job. You will never get an engineering job, if you never try. If you don't set it as a goal, then you will never try...:p

LoL do we listen to the same station...
UAI does not say anything - Im definately going to UTS (If i get the UAI which i think i can do) cause it has work experience which other uni dont have or have but only goes for only like 3 months. I got guy two years ago who got a UAI of 99.85 in my school quess what he did in Uni.....IT in UTS which was a uni of 85 back then....

Engineering in Uni is not like what in school as it become specialise and if u dont want to learn brakes u dont need too. I also felt the same way as u but everyone has to do and dont worry when u reach year 12 u can forget about brakes u dont need it anymore, year 12 is more fun, i do more practical, im doing the module aeronatuical engineering now and my assignment is build paper aeroplanes LOL SO FUN!

However, the first year of uni for engineering which is refer to as the flexible year which everyone does is a bit like what we do in year 12 which is good year 1 can be bludge lol -

If u dont like the braking area which is mechanical engineer then dont do it

I BELIEVE IN U!!!

SO back that up....UTS offer great intership (part time work whilst studing) which goes for 2 semesters which like gurrantees a job afta uni. When u working u GET PAID AS WELL, pay averages around $650 a week which isnt bad

If u doing civil engineering at UTS u should apply for a RTA scholarship as if u get accepted RTA pays ur whole engineering course for 4 years but u must do intership with them which isnt that bad.

Yeah, I've had a look at all the engineering scholarships. I've researched and got all the info I need for engineering last year.

I'm thinking of going to UNSW rather then UTS...

BTW, sle3pe3bumz, go to the UNSW engineering day this year and you'll see what it's like. And the food is really good...steaks, sausages, salad..

why unsw, uts is better it came first in faculty hence better facilities, unsw only provides 3 months training well as uts provides 2 semseter which is like 1 years also they have been connection toward industry than unsw, also
uni of nsw was on the breach of backrupacy that is why they close their university in singapore (ran out of money i think)

Actually, UNSW is the number one ranked engineering faculty in Australia, and I think 7th in the world...

Bankruptcy, I didn't know that...

nope thats wrong its the number one PERFORMING engineering faculty which can be misleading as it could mean they just take good students in however UTS is the number one ranked engineering faculty in facility and resources!!!

mmm...nsw is not even in the top 100 for university in the world!
