English Advanced or English Standard (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone!

I'm in Yr 11 right now (obviously) and I have to make a decision soon as whether I should stay in Advanced or drop to Standard. I'm not doing too well in Advanced but I'm not doing to badly as well. I got 10/20 for our first assessment, 15/15 for the next one (partner -oral one) and 12/20 for our last one. What do you think i should do?I'm really confused!

You must consider what school you go to too! Because your teacher might be an easy marker who knows? You could be doing ok..but you will get a different marker in the HSC...some private or selective marker perhaps?

toryn where did u get that i am doin ext 2 eng from???

i am definetly doin ext 2 maths but not ext eng (not even doin ext now for eng)
not to mention ext 2 maths scales higher (way higher) than ext 2 eng

Sorry, I meant it generally, and referring to myself, as I am doing EE2. I didn't mean to alarm you.

You're right that Maths scales better, I think even Maths Ext 1 might scale higher than EE2, though my memory might be faulty.

as for EE2 i think u can tackle it quite easily... i see u with great creativity

i know this girl from our school ... her eng teacher is tellin her to do standard but she is goin to the extreme to prove the teacher wrong...EE2 for her next year...that is wat i call courage!

u should do advanced, it aint that bad..standards pretty much the same stuff n there is a cap on da marks

yea u do the same type of texts (ie prose fiction, non-fiction etc) but for advanced u do one more text which must be a shakespear. shakespear is actually really interesting if u hav the right teacher.......poor me, my teacher can't teach!!!!! a waste of macbeth!!!!

As for doing Standard, I don't think many people from our school would need to drop from Advanced. Good on her! I'm sort of in same boat, cos part of my reason for doing EE2 is to prove that even though they give me the same inept teacher year after year, I still have what it takes. If they give me her again next year, you can bet I'll be leading the petition to have our teachers switched.

we only one class od standard this year in yr12...
too bad eng is not the same as maths.......u hav to do every sinlge paper though...advanced, ext1 and ext2
