My task for English Advanced is based on Othello. I have to write an essay based on the following statement :‘’Iago does not destroy Othello but provokes Othello to destroy himself’’

How can I begin this essay and what neccessary points should I talk about/discuss throughout my essay? As I struggle with essays, I would greatly appreicate someone helping me. Thank you

Its been a while since I did Othello but I'd definitely talk about How Iago manipulates Othello's insecurities to destroy him. Namely, Othello's jealousy. I'd also talk about race tbh. Probably focus my essay on how Othello's hamartia(jealousy) is catalysed by the racism he experiences and how Iago simply utilises that to set Othello on a path of self destruction.

Othello's downfall is entirely of his own creation. Iago pokes and prods, but the actions Othello takes are ultimately decisions that he is responsible for.

Jealousy is your main focus, but also talk about Othello temper and swiftness of action.
