they could ask you any of those... Most likely will be 2 of them... One will be a 10 mark and one will be a 20 mark or both 15 marks

Just looked at ur subjects and they're kind of the same as mine... Except I'm doing extension lol but going down to advanced in yr 12 and I'm also dropping business in yr 2 :D

Hi-5 lol

Okay lets make a bet on which one of them they'll give out.
This is a dumb guess but:
- letter for 10 marker
- story for 20 marker

:(.. more like a wish list

I don't think they would ask for both an editorial and feature article since they're somewhat similar.

I have an enormous feeling that they'll definitely ask for a letter (hasn't been done in a while) and EITHER an editorial/feature article. Or perhaps something a little more off-centre, like a diary entry. But I really don't think they'll ask for a narrative as it was done last year.

Hmmm same, a letter seems so logical at the moment.

You reckon they'd ask for a review? It's only been done twice in the past decade.

We never went over reviews in our class, so what would we have to think about if they did ask for one? Using critical/positive language, depending on what our opinion is, supporting your opinion with facts/credible reasoning, and perhaps appealing to your audience?

I really hope not... Maybe they'll wait for another year to do it. Hopefully.

In one of the two times they DID ask for a review, was it the one that asked to write a review on a short narrative that was IN the exam? How many marks was it worth, do you know?

2002 - Review, critical response to a song (10 marks)
2000 - Review, evaluation of a story (also 10 marks)

Do we all feel like we know our text types well? :D

I really think they are gonna ask for a letter and then something very off-centre, maybe something they've never done before... but it's just a hunch. :p

A very very bad hunch :(
Why would it have to be OUR year that they try something new? I just want something generic :(

No idea, I just noticed that since 2005 there's been something a little different in nearly each year (bar '07).

Rolror88 posted this in another thread:

The first one is the 10 marker, 20 marker. They've pretty much asked a range of things

2007: Interview, Narrative
2006: News report (web page), Speech (formal)
2005: Exposition (magazine editorial), narrative (short story)
2004: Letter (formal), Speech (formal)
2003: Diary Entry, Essay (persuasive)
2002: Review (critical response to a song), Narrative (short story)
2001: Recount (newspaper report), Exposition (letter to the principal)
2000: Reviews (evaluation of a story), Exposition (feature article)
1999: Exposition (letter to the editor), Speech (persuasive)

I really really hate creative writing, so I was positive that we would be tested on it.

But think of it from the Board of Studies POV: they probably want to test your knowledge of other text types ie editorial, speech, review, letter, diary.

Once there was a SC question for English where you had to write an interview transcript for the 10 marker. I really like that idea because its different, and in general is usually an interesting text type.

I hope no creative!!!!!!!
