Standard English has the same scaling as Advanced English.

2 identical raw marks in Standard and Advanced English will equate to identical scaled marks.

Every course it's possible to attain a band 6. In 2003, 1 person achieved a band 6 in Standard English.

It's not rare to get a band 5. It's just that the people taking the course generally haven't performed well enough to attain more band 5/6's.

Any course where only 1 person gets in the top range obviously has something wrong with it.

Nothing wrong with the course. It's the candidature not performing well enough.

Yeah but a compartive aligned mark in standard scales better than one in advanced english (ie standard english isnt aligned as much). I think someone said that.

no they are the same scaling. this sorta works out because adv eng is a harder course but in st eng it is hard to obtain a band 5/6.

yea......laz said something about the only real advantage to doing adv eng (apart from being abkle to gon to ext eng), is that the course is suppose to be targeted at people with a better aptitude in english, which in turn, will develop the students willingness to learn, particapate and take an active role in the course, thus allowing for better marks........sonmething like that anyway.....
