hey,

I know how the hsc marking / scaling / moderating works but I have a query:

Let's say the school gives an equal 5th ranking - does that mean the 5th highest mark (in the HSC) will be allocated to them (as 50% of the mark)?

If this happens, doesn't this mean schools can like put 5-10 equal 1sts so that the highest HSC mark gets allocated to all of them?

Obviously, this is silly so how do they do it?

Maybe they use the HSC to seperate the two 5th places (i.e. if the schools cant split them, then in the HSC if Person A beats Person B, person A will be rank 5th and B will be 6th)?

The moderated assessment mark will be the same. For equal first, the moderated assessment mark will be equal to the average of the first exam marks.

For the others it will be the same mark that comes out in the moderation process.
