i was wondering if anyone had any good ideas/tips for essay constructions and linkings related to coleridge and stimulus text?

Essay Skills

An essay is 'a sustained argument developing or weighing the evidence about the idea or question, creating a full and satisfying conclusion'.

Things that are important prior writing the essay:

- the way you interpret the question
- understanding of key terms
- background knowledge
- whether you agree with the statement or not
- what weight you give to different aspects of the question
- additional materials you have found yourself
- connections you make between perscribed texts

The essay in itself consists of:

- Introduction:

The topic, argument and texts are introduced; hypothesise; a definition

- Body

The sustained argument or train of thought you intend to follow accompanied by various related texts; prove

- Conclusion

The rounding off on the body parallel to your initial argument; complete

Make sure you are:

- Relevent
- Complete
- Cohersive
- Sustained
- Organised
- Concise
- Specific
- Explanatory
(advanced skills)
- Analysis
- Fluency
