Hi i would just like a few estimates if possibly please :).

General maths = 61% 14/58 (Expecting band 5 in HSC exam)
English standard = 53% 26/57
Ancient history = 44% 22/47 ( i screwed this up in trials... usually get 70% so it brought me down)
Business studies = 52% 22/49(Expecting band 5)
IPT = 60% 8/21 (Expecting Band 5)

I know these aren't that good as i bludged but hypothetically if i get band 5's for maths business and ipt can i still get a >75 UAI?

edit school rank is around 180

Well from your results, you'd expect around 50-60. You have to do better and better hope for band 5's +

Question: What if you have good ranks but low marks? For example first in math but a mark of lets say 70?

Then it depends on how closely do your internal assessment reflects in the HSC.
Raw internal mark means nothing.

hmm, true but lets say i got a band 5 in the HSC, how would they work out my makr in accordance with my rank? And does that also mean that everythin we've worked hard for in the last 12 months is a total waste?

It depends, you need to be aware of the scaling + moderating + ranking system. But judging on that I don't believe its possible to get a UAi above 75, most likely get a UAI of 55-60. By the way, it is important to know how the cohort is in the subjects - is there a widespread or is their high and low achievers. Try SAM also.

if u get 85 in the HSC for example, and that is also the highest HSC examination mark from ur exam centre. You will then get 85 as your final HSC mark.

IN A NUTSHELL;if u are first, your HSC mark is the average of your HSC examination mark and the highest examination mark for maths from your centre.

kapish?

then for your UAI, what matters is your HSC marks, not rankings.

so you mean mark difference in hsc exam matters then?

YES. but in the HSC exams if the range gets smaller, then so will the distances between the modulated internal marks. nd vice versa.

hmmm... so I was 100% over. oh well it is the closest multiple of 3. I will kill for such a good ranking in English.

so you mean mark difference in hsc exam matters then?

but don't they keep the mark difference in raw internal assessmark and
apply it to the hsc exam mark?
so lets say

raw internal mark
A 75%
B 68%
C 55%

hsc exam mark
A 94%
B 90%
C 88%

then dont they still keep the mark difference in raw internal mark and allocate the hsc mark (assessment +hsc exam mark/2)?
in this case for instance B mite get a assessment mark of 91%, because it has to try nd reflect the internal marks(nd in this case internally he was closer to the 1st person then he was to the third). is dat understandable

You know in hsc 'closest multiple of three' is a huge gap...im happy with 3rd, i was 2nd but dropped in the trial; but still happy

Your rank?...im considering if i should guess, but since it didnt work to well for you, il just wait for the real answer:eek:

loll... 8/36, but thats my worst subject so i'm reasonably happy with it. Infact I like english, but its a love-hate relationship. :) I hope your other marks are as good.
