Both are very good, they complement each other. Excel is more detailed in Law & Society, whereas Macquarie is more thorough with crime.

yea excel is good...but one crap thing is that they dont really have cases in them, just a lotta stuff on the content material

I would very much recommend the macquarie one. it's really thorough, although simple enough. The excel ones are more popular because they have been around longer and have a reputation. Don't quote me on this one but I think the macquarie guides have only been around for a year or so.
