i think i remember seeing an illustration somewhere that used cultured bacteria on agar plates that were treated with various amounts of an antiobiotic, to see the effect of that antiobiotic on inhibiting the growth of the bacteria on the plate... maybe it wasn't an agar plate, but similar petri dish thing etc.

basically.. its a medium that the bacteria can grow on (limitations? things lik chlamydia trachomatis wont grow on anything effectively in labs..).. and a ring with different antibiotics

then we look at the ring around it.. and see where it cant grow..d/t the antibiotic.

how this works in patients is different.. we do.. trials with them.. usually on an analogous animal.. trial them first on healthy.. then on some sick and get medic feed back.. then you test over a wide range (longitudinal studies).. then u do a randomised control...

thats some suggestions.. but its not realli that special.. make sumfing unique if u can..
