What is your essay on? Have you started? Research folios, journals?

I am doing an essay drawing parallels between jazz bassist Charles Mingus' manic depressive disorder and his musical synthesis. Am going well...although mingus is dead, i have contacted his wife and chatted to her, have all the scores/recordings necessary etc.

My only problem at the moment is trying to find transcriptions of improvisation (which makes up the majority of mingus' work.) Any help with that?

you've managed to chat with mingus's wife! wow, how did you manage that! thats amazing!!

for the transcribed solos and stuf, if you are unable to find any then probably the ideal thing would be to transcribe a couple from different years or something... somewhere like the state or the con lib might have some of his work tho. not sure...
