our teacher reckons we've finished, so he's giving us heaps of revision, but i don't think we have. We just skimmed over it, and some parts we didn't even do because the teacher thought it was irrelevant!

you should take advantage of this and do alot of revision, so what you've learnt throughout the year settles in slowly, rather then cramming on the last minute, do heaps of practise essays and have your teacher mark it, since you've finished he/she would have nothing better to do then help you improve your writing skills.

essay writing tips (i'm not sure if you've recevied copies of these or not, but these are really useful for other subjects aswell)

be sure when you've given an essay to write, you do it correctly, (eg: if you're told to analyze something, but instead you describe it)

the following are key terms used in essay questions..

Account; Account for: state reasons for, report on. Give an account on: narrate a series of events

Analyse; Identify components and the relationship between them; draw out and relate implications

Apply; Use, utilize, employ in a particular situation

Appreciate; Make a judgement about the value of

Assess; Make a judgement of value, quality, outcomes, results or size

Calculate; Ascertain/Determine from given facts, figures or information

Clarify; Make clear or plain

Classify; Arrange or include in classes/categories

Compare; Show how things are similar or different

Construct; Make; build; put together item or arguments

Contrast; Show how things are different or opposite

Critically (Analysis/Evaluation); Add a degree or level of accuracy depth, knowledge and understanding, logic, questioning, reflecting and quality to (analysis/evaluation)

Deduce; Draw conclusions

Define; State meaning and identify essential qualities

Demonstrate; Show by example

Describe; Provide characteristics and features

Discuss; Identify issues and provide points for and/or against

Distinguish; Recognise or note/indicate as being distinct or different from; to note differences between

Evaluate; Make a judgement based on criteria; determine the value of

Examine; Inquire into

Explain; Relate cause and effect; make the relationships between things evident; provide why and/or how

Extract; Choose relevant and/or appropriate details

Extrapolate; Infer from what is known

Identify; Recognise and name

Interpret; Draw meaning from

Investigate; Plan, inquire into and draw conclusions about

Justify; Support an argument or conclusion

Outline; Sketch in general terms; indicate the main features of

Predict; Suggest what may happen based on available information

Propose; Put forward (for example a point of view, idea, argument, suggestion) for consideration or action

Recall; Present remembered ideas, facts or experiences

Recommend; Provide a series of events

Recount; Retell a series of events

Summarise; Express, concisely, the relevant details

Synthesise; Putting together various elements to make a whole

i cannot stress how important it is to do it correctly, because if you don't do it the way they want you to do it, you won't get all the marks you deserve, even if it's a 6 page essay.

hope it helps, and goodluck.

we won't have finished consumers by the time the trials start so our teacher is gonna do a question that we can get full marx for, withouht having to know everything in consumsers.

We have finished our assessment program tho (except trials). Handed in consumers assessment on thursday. I think I'm gonna not be last in my class.

when i get it back, if my marks are good i'll upload it.
