How annoying were the fire alarms today - one went off around 11.00am at the X end of the uni, and yet another one including evacuation and fire brigade attendance at the building behind E7B (some sort of chemistry lab)

Did anyone else get caught up in the mess and confusion today?

Weren't you in uni in your break yesterday? They had 2 alarms then - one at 12:00 and another at about 1:45

Oh! Was that the noise I heard today?

My friend and I thought it was someone's car alarm going off whilst someone else was trying to break into it or something :p

I had an exam on Monday, and while i was rushing to complete the exam... the fire alarm went off! the security guards came into our classroom and told us there was a fire, forcing us to finish the exam early. Grrr!!! It also went off during a tutorial on Tuesday...

Yeah, the alarm system is the best. When the actual alarm is triggered, it sets off a generic notice which I guess a security guy has to respond to for exact instructions to evacuate or remain where you are:

'Alarm: Bleep bleep. Standby for instructions. Bleep bleep. Standby for instructions. Bleep bleep. Standby for instructions. Bleep bleep. Standby for instructions. Bleep bleep. Standby for instructions. Bleep bleep. Standby for instructions. Bleep bleep. Standby for instructions...
Hieroglyphs lecturer in his Arabic accent, talking to the ceiling: We are standing by!'

It finally asked us to evacuate, although I dare say that we'd be burnt alive in the time it took for actual instructions.

I know in french, our tutor just had an odd expression on her face when it went off and then we just ignored it. As you can see, finishing Lecon dix was far more important than the prospect of char grilled students.

yeah i was there today at 11 in the X block and had to leave.

i was also at the psych building at 10am monday when the alarm went off and i had to leave.

They must be fire drills, there are too many happening ... i would be pissed if it happened during an exam and we had to finish early...

Me too. I'm one of those people that need to use up all the exam time.

Hahaha the like 2nd day this semester I actually was at MQ on Tuesday around 11am handing in an assignment and the alarms were going off.. rocked up to W6A to hand in my assignment to get ushered out by an angry lady.. wasnt quite sure where to go so I headed to the library and borrowed some books, then it was off as I walked back.
I messaged some of my MQ friends but no one replied.. I felt very rejected!

Heh...I believe that was in E6A, the computer labs.

Most annoying, having a physics tutorial, finishing our maths assignments, to be tossed out due to fire...

Needless to say, we wandered in there after about 10 mins...no one cared...

Too bad if there's a real fire - when everyone will just treat it as yet another drill...
