A motorbike. 250cc, 500cc if you go a heavy ducati or something, but try and stick to the small nimbler ones like a CBR.

The corolla is the best buy although usually a little overpriced. Civics...yeh there good, they don't do anything for me though. Excels, there not TOO bad but with your budget i wouldn't bother with excels, an excel is the poor mans corolla.

I agree, something toyota with a small engine. Toyotas rarely miss a beat and with a small engine you'll be sweet for fuel.

But for a Corolla.. slight problem.. I found in Toyotas that they're not very efficient in their gearing..

I had a Corolla last year and seriously.. that car sucks on highways.. You always have to keep feeding the engine more and more fuel for it to stay on the same speed.. Otherwise the speed drops from 100 to 80 in around 4secs

But other than that, it served me well.. It had the kick when starting at lights.. Parking was heaps easy because it's small.. Mine was slightly screwed so the fuel wasn't as efficient as it SHOULD of been.. Still efficient tho.. depending on what you compare it to..

Ummmmm.. oh actually.. Corolla had the dodgiest brakes.. I don't know if it's like, from my family's driving style.. but after 4yrs (we bought it brand new in 2001), we had to tighten our brakes pretty regularly.. and they only came into effect after stomping it down around 2-3 inches.. depending on the last time they were tightened/changed..

But if you're not too picky, it's good =]

That's the trade off.
So does it have drums at the rear? How many pots do the front calipers have?

Yeah.. besides the fact that it only could only do 3200rpm in first gear..
It had rear drums
No idea about anything else

EDIT:Neways, car got sold.. it was the 01 'rolla if you're interested in finding out for yourself

It looks good (sans the faux two-piece alloys) - nice paint, clean interior. But methinks that it's about time for an engine rebuild. I'd bet that it burns oil.
