How many hours per week and what subjects are done?

My friend rang up UNSW and they said it's only 12 hours per week, but that figure doesn't look right, I mean, is that all?

standard commerce in 1st yr is 12-13 hrs
depends how good you are at them.. you might not even turn up to all your lectures which reduces that further by a couple of hours

generally you will have no fridays, but if you really wanted you could probably cut another day out as well.

keep in mind 13 hrs is 13 hrs of CLASSES, there will still be an hour or 2 or more every day where you might have a break or you just want to hang with friends outside of classes

accounting
and an option course, generally for your major (marketing, finance, accounting, etc)

So 12 hours a week, about 4 hours a day 3 days a week, doesn't sound bad at all, 4 day weekend :D

Hmm, this is shifting me towards a single commerce degree instead of combined :) or should that be :(

i wouldnt choose a degree based on time spent at uni.. if you want to do combined because you have a serious interest in the other half then i would advise you to do it anyway

doing combined might make you do 16 hrs and seriously its not that much

i personally do a combined and i'm quite happy with the way things are going

also older people i know say that doing a combined degree differentiates you a little bit from those people who do a single degree when you go look for jobs, giving you a bit of an edge

Commerce(honours) w/Software Engineering is 6 years.
Commerce(honours) by itself is 4 years.

Is there ANY way to reduce the time doing Commerce(honours) w/Software Engineering besides doing Actuarial Studies as the major?

An honours year is an extra year doing your thesis and advanced subjects, and considering u need 5 years to complete your combined Com/Eng degree, theres no other way to cut it down from 6

commerce is a bludge

my friend told me it was only 5 hours compulsory a week and the other which were just lecture were optional which make up the other 7 and a half hours

and you only need to turn up to the tues if you need the attendence mraks which you dont if you get above 50 anyway

he didnt turn up at all for about 4 weeks staright and stil managed to get at the end of the seesion 82 which is nearly a high distinction

actually, the only real selective presence in commerce is baulko and ruse (huge huge numbers of baulko - why do they all wanna do comm for?)

the rest are all from everywhere!

hrm.. so is it probably more "fulfilling" to do a combined degree?
i put commerce/arts in one of my prefs..
but that also means that i can only do one commerce major right?

a question, can you start 1st year with just doing commerce as a single degree and then the next year start a combined?

What aspect said is right. Choose something you like or you don't go. I'm doing Actuarial Studies and Maths, and the accounting and economics is dirt boring. And then my actuarial lecturer was weird. So I cut my week down to 3-4 hours a week which just mainly tutorials... now the exams are upon us! :( Next year I plan to attend more, maybe actually like what we're doing.
