For MATH students: Maple (1 Viewer)

OK so everyone has to use this right?

Who here has bought a copy to use at home?

And also, is it true that there's a Maple question in the final exam? How does that work?

I had to do an assignment on it.

I've *cough* bought for free *cough* Maple 8 to use at home.

They can test you by asking you to write the MAPLE command to do something.

e.g. write the command to find the integral between 0 and infinity of x^2

then you'd need to write exact maple commands like int(x^2, x=0..infinity);

And also, is it true that there's a Maple question in the final exam? How does that work?

The Maple question on the final exams is quite easy, they just give you a printed maple session on the exam paper and you have to be able to interpret it, and also use it to solve another related problem they may give you.

hrmm.. I dont see much need for buying it, maybe using the math lab ones are better..

whats the point isn't it only like a really small part of 1131

and you can always go to the math labs (which happens to often be not-full). Although in my opinion the math lab comps are very sluggish (compared to cse).

Yeah but the MAPLE computer test is in week 11.

do you use the computers upstairs?
the computers in the basement are heaps better, it's less sluggish, although still slow

lol i saw some people playing warcraft 3 in the maths labs last week, they bought in a usb HD..

got busted by one of the maths people who was supervising a MatLab exam...

if they didn't talk no one would have known, but they were too stupid and just kept talking even after been told to shut up multiple times!

when asked to leave, they exit warcraft and pretended to do work and insteaded that they were doing work....morons

Well you still need it for discrete maths, and who said you're going to 'buy' a copy?
