Hi all,

I was just wondering whether those integrals that result in a log would need to be memorised? or will they have to state it in a question for us to use? Also, is there any easy way of deriving the formula or so?
It's best to memorise them, I haven't seen any exam questions that state which integration formula/method to use.
Plus memorising it saves time in the exam, especially since you will not need to use the long method of deriving it. Also if it is a deriving question, chances are it will be in parts (parts for each section of the derivation or somethin like that).

You would not be expected to remember/quote them and any question in the HSC would ask you to derive it anyway (e.g. by trig substitution). Even back in the old syllabus, such questions of those variety were extremely rare.
