what i did, most weeknights:

get home
afternoon tea/snack
do a bit of work
dinner
finish rest of work
get on forums, ask or answer questions'
work on art major work (it was digtal media, so i just did bits and peices whilst on forums)
go to bed (me, usually 10:30 -- 11:30)

i used the "general" forums a bit, but more so post-hsc. during the hsc i usually stuck with my subject forums, and then only some of them: i never used the maths forum much, for some reason. i guess it would have been more helpful for something like ext 2 what with those crazy big problems that people spend ages doing.

Me too, i would use the resources and occasionally read the forums but would never actually post until after my last exam which was on the last day of the hsc!

Forums like this are a waste of time of you go on them and neglect to put some effort into studying or assessment tasks. Make sure to do be consistent and maintain a sustained effort.

:worried:

lol, this forum was good for the fact I could have one place to really jus communicate with lots of other different ppl in the same situation as me (the HSC), and I have to credit it for pulling me thru the year (or 4 months, to be precise - the crunch time). It's good to see ppl genuinely answering ppl's questions, even though its like "helping a competitor"

Even if you don't get a material gain, I think helping other people out is it's own reward. People asked me why I bothered to post all those trial papers, making people better prepared, but I thought we might as well have a level playing field :).

heeeeeell no these forums weren't a waste of time... i started posting in them around trials cos i had nothing else to do and it's kinda cool reading about other people going through the same crap as you.. or better still.. other people who are freaking out more than you are..!

except i only had about three exams to study for so i wouldn't listen to me.

hehe yeah
I reckon the median UAI of the ppl on this forum would be in the mid 90's at least

Ahh, that's an interesting idea.

Here are some stats from the results that were submitted to us... I think we had about 200 entries, but only 115 ended up being processed. The others were excluded for one or more of the following reasons - had missing or incomplete data, included one or more courses for which the scaling stats weren't released, included one or more marks which lay below the 25th percentile. Most cases were due to the last reason, and so the average should probably be slightly lower than it is (I doubt the median would change much).

there is no such thing as a level playing field ... some people are naturally brighter, some will work harder ... if there was an even play field this is how it should be - everyone is equally bright and does exactly the same amount of work, then it would be even ... :)

we had a pretty strong group ...
just wondering - how many people do you think meddled around with the results they submitted, just to stuff up the statistics ...

Out of the 115 results I kept, I don't think any of them did - it would have been too noticeable (I made a lot of thorough comparisons between actual UAIs and what my algorithms were calculating them to be etc).

There were probably some false results in the ones that were thrown out though.
