There seems to be a few Justice Kirby fans in here and I thought you'd all appreciate this little ditty that was performed at the USyd 2006 Law Revue (entitled High Rates of the Career Driven) Even though I myself was not a Law student I found this song really funny. :)

Hey Dissenter(to the tune of Shirley Bassey’s “Hey Big Spender”)

Barrister 1:
The minute the High Court your joined
Kirby J you were a judge of conviction, a real dissenter
But your rambling wastes our time,
You think we want to know what’s going on in your mind?
Barrister 2:
You always seem to miss the point
And revel in self-imaged complexity…
Hey dissenter!
Barrister 1: Complicate the law for me.

Kirby J:
Being a judge can be fun, fun, fun
I’m just having a few laughs, laughs
On the bench with such old swine
I think its time they all resign!
Barrister 3:
The minute you walked in the court,
I could see you were a real time-waster, a case distender
Kirby J:
Quit talking! Amateur mind,
Or would you like my obiter dictum in your behind?
But let me get right to the point
I’m a hero among mediocrity!
Statute bender!!
Left defender!!
All: With his own agenda!

Kirby J: Queen… of the judiciary!
