Hi, how do you calculate g-force and what are the units?

Lots of mixed answers I've heard, please discuss.

G-Force = a/g + 1

Units - I just say 1 G-Force or 8 G-Force or 8.5 G-Force and so on.
Sometimes, people say 'g' so like '10g' instead of 10 g-force.

Be careful, as g-force is a measure of Apparent weight/true Weight, therefore, its units are Newton/Newton.. meaning no units. It is just a ratio! if a question is asked 'what is the g-force on John', your answer should be the g-force on Tom is 1, not the g-force is 1g as that does not make sense.
