Richard Newbury is a pretty awsome guy. I wouldn't say he's the best lecturer, but he has to one of the nicest and most entertaining I've had.

Well while we're on the subject, I'll compile an personal list for my own enjoyment...

Good lecturers:

Mike Archer (dean), fabulous and entertaining, definately the best
Sharon Tindall-Ford
Jose Hanham
Paul Chanlder (hilariously lame)
Louise Lutze-Mann
David Edwards
John Triantifillis
Scott Mooney
David Cohen (Tom Tucker!)

OK lecturers

Margeret Cooley, she sometimes good a bit boring
Paul Lennox, same deal
the new bio guy, I haven't had him enough yet

Somewhat bad lecturers:

Colin Ward, the Dr. of coal, terrible

Colin ward is a much more interesting than Lennox.

Again, this may be because I find coal a lot more interesting than hard-rock.

Not telling us what these lecturers teach is rude!
I think its BEES. David Cohen is a geologist and Mike Archer is a a Palaentologist.

the fact that you've called mike archer 'fabulous and entertaining' and then 'horrifically boring' doesn't lend your list too much credibility

what about jie du from pure mathematics? is he mr. charisma or what?
Lol There is nothing really about 1st yr for the lecturers to get excited over, especially discrete.

You will find that Ian Doust, who lectures 1/2 of MATH2111 Higher Several Variable Calculus, is a very good lecturer. He manages to make concepts in Analysis interesting.

Agreed totally, Ian was awesome, wish he taught the applied part of the course too :( I only missed one of Ian's lectures, with this new dude i've probably been to 2 lectures in total. He just reads off his pdf file.

Is it skateboard season, I see many more people carrying skateboards. Saw one dude with a longboard and they are so damn rare.

Mike Archer, that guy who does BIOS1101 (or 1201? - the first year one that's in second session), his lectures are totally the same every year - same slides, same stories and same jokes, word for word..!!
My solution: Don't do the courses more than once. Oh, and I only had him once in 1201 and that was a guest speaker role, but he was damn good at it, and seeing as the content related to the course, I included him. I wasn't aware that we had a series with him in second session (1101), but it's rather cool if we do.

May as well pimp my election.

Any of you that are science students, or enrolled into a combined science program, please vote for myself (Timothy LI) and my friend, (Jacky HO). We are both running for Science Faculty Board.

Thanks!

And about Mike Edwards, he is an okay lecturer. His lecture format is easy to follow, clear slides, and his exams aren't terribly difficult.

The exams aren't difficult? Excellent. I just found the whole topic of cellular respiration or whatever it was to be terribly boring, especially in comparison to the other stuff they teach you in BIOS1201

I don't think I've ever fallen asleep in any of Mike Edwards lectures - BIOS1201 or BIOC2101.

I actually thought his lectures were interesting :p

If you have Wolgang for the second 1/2, it's not really his fault that the vector calculus stuff is dull. Wolfgang just skips a lot of steps in his proofs cz he's so damm smart. Wolgang also has the funny geek humour Physics t-shirts.
