What type of corolla are you looking at? Have a geez at the sx seca's with 100kw 4age powerplants
they go fairly cheap these days...

Consider a Ford Fiesta or Ford Focus, too.

But in the meantime, I'd go the 'rolla.

I wouldn't go that far with the mods.

I mean it'd be cool with a more conservative front kit, remove the rear wing. Make sure you get an EK series (the one in the picture), if you're going to mod it. The EG ones look terrible.

The Civic. Much more involving car compared with a Corrolla. The 'rolla is desinged by lawn bowlers for lawn bowlers. At least the Civic is not attacked with the beige stick.

you could get something a lot better for a lot less... and with 14k you could afford to broaden your search

You could buy mine for $4500. Check out the details in the buy/sell forum. It's a 2 litre engine, so it has a bit of go, but only uses about 10 litres of petrol to 120kms.

Don't listen to the people here.

The Civic would easily maul the Corolla. Try looking for a EK4. You should be able to find one for around $14,000. B16A engine 1.6L 116kW DOHC VTEC, no Corolla around $14,000 would beat that.

OK out of the civic v corolla

Civic would likely be quicker however parts are more expensive and it will use more petrol. Furthermore there are less around so less haggle room on the price.

For that money though consider 2000 ish: ford laser and focus, VW golf (seen for $15K). If you want more street cred then a late nineties Honda integra or mitsibushi FTO is a good buy.

Look for: DOHC head, fuel consumption at 8-9L/100km, aprox 100,000km, straight body, clean interior.

Things to avoid: high milage, ex-p-plater car, anything that looks like it's been thrashed.

Don't base the decision on a cd player you can pick up some pretty good ones from $100 (VDO CD 138 on sale at autobarn) and have them installed for about $50. So be aware that a dealer may well chuck several hundred extra on for a sound system inferior to what you can get (with no hassle) for aprox $150-$200.

a 4agze corrolla worth around 13-14k would beat that. :)
