Getting to macq u (1 Viewer)

gday all,

im headed out 2 macq for talented students day for maths, just workin out how 2 get there? im comin up from wollongong so would be getting the train out from central, which station would be best and then bus or wat?

If you're coming by train, get one from central to strathfield, then change from strathfield to epping. Get off at epping, and there should be a multitude of buses going to uni, basically any 2xx will get you to macquarie.

Alternatively, if you want to head to the Queen Victoria Building, catch a 288 or 292 (Stand C and ones going to epping via mq centre) ~$2.10 for one way trip, and that will get you to macquarie uni as well.

Best way from the gong is to:


take train to centrel or redfern

if u get off at redfern and centrel, change platforms to Northern Line via strathfield...

normally from there its easy, first stop burwood, strathfield, etc.

get off at epping , head up the stairs and make a LEFT, once u see the street, make a left again and follow the fake construction walls,...the bus stops should be just ahead....

The buses to catch are 288, and 296.... there usually is one waiting. about 80c one way if u use student card, be sure to say Macq uni not Macq centre otherwise its double....

When i travel to Macq U in the morning its easier to take 2 trains and a bus, faster than a train and bus, unless u want to visit city...

also try catching a newcastle train from central which usually just goes strathfield, epping. so its usually alot faster (unless its stuck behind an all stations train feh).

and note 289 does NOT stop at uni.. made that mistake yesterday =((

what i did when i had a lecture there on sunday was catch the train from kogarah, that is where i live to central. and from there i caught via the northern line to epping. i then walked to macq.

its really not that far as well.

what happened was that it took 15 mins to realise whcih way to head. first bad sense of direction from my friend and then had to wait for stragglers... made us late for lectures. but i advise you to bring something to do. its a long ride

I wouldnt suggest walking to Macq, its only 80c and a 5 min ride (offpeak), walking would have taken u about at least 20 min ...

That walk looks like more than 20 mins, not to mention thats its incrediblely hilly. Put it this way, you never see any boys from epping high walk to the station, you know why? because its BLOODY FAR. And if its far for them, its a marathon for us.

26 weeks = 78 hrs!!!

Imagine what u can do with 78+ hrs b4 finals!!
