I know right, how bad is this assignment....

mine is similar:
Global Village - Celebration or catastrophy ....
compare it to 2 other texts and The Castle. I have no notes.. my english teaher is never there and i absolutely HATE the Castle... Ahh the serenity GRRR

for ur related txts do 1 that supports the positive effects (celebration) of the global village, and do one that supports the negative (the catastrophy) aspects of the global village.
here is the start of mine, i wnt give u it all becasue im using these notes in the HSC XD
through globalisation many new links have opened. The value of this interlocking between international communities is controversial. Many people have celebrated and profited immensely due to the greater competition and customer base.

and for ur celebration related text u could simply do facebook, ebay, boredofstudies XD, myspace, any site that allows instant communication or provides you with benefits.
for catastophe you could find an article about the uniut tribe(there was one in my yr 11 final exam but i dnt know where it is) and it talks about how the internet/computers (the gateway to the global village, among with other sorts of technology) have destroyed their way of life, their culture and beliefs

Someone suggested I do "an inconvenient truth"... as a do geo as well i understand it alot..not tht theres much to understand. and for my positive i wasnt sure but facebook would be a good idea its the only one i use other than bored of studies...

yeah me too. i know of one person who is doing it. Its due monday im so tired of assignments.glad theres only one term left! i need an idea of a text thats both..ie celebration and catastrophe i cant find anything but i cant use another movie and i dont read books so yeah..hmmm

They don't. It is only once he combines forces with Laurie (who represents global) that he can triumph. When he acts only on local knowledge and values, he fails. The film seeks an amalgamation of global and local value to succeed and survive.

Thats why I hate english, it makes you look so hard at a text and take away what it means and replace it with some really lame deep meaning that the composer probably didn't even want...

i have this question too. What can i write about the castle. I already have the notes needed for the other two texts, and have written that part of the essay, but i dont no what to write about for the castle..

- expansion of airport... which leads to the compulsory aquisition of their land/house/castle
- inequality
-Giant corporations overpowering the individual...

lol thanks guys, but i obviously already had the airport! haha, was wondering what else i coulda had. i got some help from my friend, she said "the ignorance that Trace and Con had towards the Thai culture." hope this may help anyone else..

Their ignorance is a negative factor of the local, not the global. If they embraced the global, they would have that knowledge.
