Arghhh...I so can't bees with this thing. it's week 4 and I'm already jaded. Not a good sign.

Would anyone care to explain why one of the marking criteria is "correct...referencing..." when on blackboard one of the announcements state that we don't have to demonstrate adv referencing skills. hmmm....so what would basic referencing be, a damn quote?

I think they mean correct referencing by using the right system!? ack...i dont even know. In the posted guide, it says to use the Harvard system!? or was it the footnote system?

The assignment itself isn't half bad I dont think...the comparing and contrasting is straightforward but the analysing is gonna be tough :(

referencing ey...that implies further reading. All I've done is look at my two little articles. I hope that's all we had to do.

I just read that on bb too, Sarah! that concerns me greatly... :S!

btw, thanks for posting the cover sheet.
danke!

i dropped govt 1101 ( or is it 1001?) aussie politics for this. This is waaaaaaaaaaay better. Ariadne was too boring for my liking and the subject matter of aussie politics wasnt exactly appealing to me either. I gave it two lectures and got the hell out of there. The first time i heard about geopolitics, awful yr 9/10 geography memories came back, but once i opened my eyes abit, i gave it a go and im still here. Kinda difficult subject to keep up with cos im lacking in the background knowledge of the Cold War, Soviet this, soviet that, NATO this NATO that blah blah, but it's still good :)

600 words of pure shite on the EU so far. wacco!

similarly, I feel like my response is superficial. my 'evidence' is tenuous. I'm not cut out for this faculty ;p

yeah I know, its only the first one...only 15%

the main arguments in my one are so vague, they're not really arguments, more like opinions

when they mean 'evidence' does that mean examples the writers use? Like statstics or something?

yeah

with quantitative, i took the guess that it included maps

but what confuses me is comparative evidence....isnt that what we find by examining the articles and what we come up with?

stupid assessment.

korry,

from some random powerpoint in one of the lectures:

- Quantitative evidence e.g. survey and opinion poll data or economic modelling – focus on numeric patterns
- Qualitative evidence e.g. quotes from experts, politicians, biographies – focus on meaning
- Comparative evidence - focus on similarities or different experiences, and in different places
- Historical evidence – focus on legal events, change in institutions

...;)
