you dont come across drum solos in songs much these days...which is sad...since drums are obviously the superior instrument :) but out of live solos i have seen at concert, i would have to say Jose Pasillas from Incubus had the best one...he is one decent drummer...Chad Smith also has some rippers, but the prick did not do one when i saw em in Aus...

i like a lot of han bennink's work. the solo in bill evan's' 'nardis' (montreux jazz festival recording) is beautiful too

Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida

You've all heard of this song in the Simpsons...In the Garden of Eden. (Some old grandma plays the organs at the church.) The actual song is around 17 minutes long or so.

Matt Sorum (velvet revolver) did this drum solo at the concert.
it started like the intro to You Could Be Mine but then went into this full solo... thing.
and it finished with a big fucking gong.
it was great.

hmm... yeah im not great at describing drum solos. what can i say, i dont play the drums...

The best i've ever seen live in concert was the john butler trio with each member playing drums for about 15 minutes. John Butler was on djembe and the bass player on some weird tribal drums as well. It was awesome, my best mate and i were astounded as we are both drummers.

yeah i love it when drummers full go off, and really utilise the drum kit especially with extras like cowbells, djambes and other different percussion. it rocks.

I like the start to The Rage To Overcome by Machine Head but I don't know much about drums so it's probabley not that good.
