i think im the only one that likes simple plan...

Dude how can u like simple plan. They try to be punk, but they aren't. They are sellouts, they aren't that good either. They can't play fast, which is kinda what u need to play punk. They write stupid songs, with no meaning and basic lyrics, and they are consistantly are put on the front cover of smash hits magazine and so freash albums.

i'll be going to this, Greenday are gonna be awesome. I'd say they will announce a 2nd sydney show, because there is a spare date between brisbane and sydney. As for simple plan, meh, they'll be alright to see and throw stuff at.

Are You Serious?

Firstly, Green Day are now shit. Look at the shitty shitty lyrics to "Boulevard of Broken Dreams:

I walk a lonely road
The only one I that have ever known
Don't know were it goes
But its home and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Blvd. of broken dreams
Were the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone

SOOOOO predictable and stale

and also Simple Plan are a hollow band utilised by their record companies to push out 'inspiring' songs for bunk teenagers who are sick of all the other music genres that are discarded on a daily basis.

Wake up.

i have a problem with mainstream punk. not because its punk or because its mainstream. it's the fucken chords. I know a lot of music plays three chords, but these guys don't even hide it.

AT LEASt in my opinion anyway.
In early punk, that was one of the main points of the genre. They didn't need talent or variety to be good.

Brand New's lyrics (punk-emo band) are pretty good.

It's about a guy getting pressured into sex, even though it was something he lived for. At least i THINK it is.... that's the good thing, kinda subtle... because they stop in the middle of the sentence before it hits to obvious....

It's interesting because he kinda "talks" rather than sings. Not rapping though. Jesus Christ no. But yeah, it's good, the only emo-song i can think of that I actually like.

"Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades"

Keep the noise low.
She doesn't wanna blow it.
Shaking head to toe
while your left hand does "the show me around."
Quickens your heartbeat.
It beats me straight into the ground.

You don't recover from a night like this.
A victim, still lying in bed, completely motionless.
A hand moves in the dark to a zipper.
Hear a boy bracing tight against sheets
barely whisper, "This is so messed up."

Upon arrival the guests had all stared.
Dripping wet and clearly depressed,
he'd headed straight for the stairs.
No longer cool, but a boy in a stitch,
unprepared for a life full of lies and failing relationships.

(Up the stairs: the station where
the act becomes the art of growing up.)

He keeps his hands low.
He doesn't wanna blow it.
He's wet from head to toe and
his eyes give her the up and the down.
His stomach turns and he thinks of throwing up.
But the body on the bed beckons forward
and he starts growing up.

The fever, the focus.
The reasons that I had to believe
you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself.
The tickle, the taste of...
It used to be the reason I breathed
but now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.

She hits the lights.
This doesn't seem quite fair.
Despite everything he learned from his friends,
he doesn't feel so prepared.
She's breathing quiet and smooth.
He's gasping for air.
"This is the first and last time," he says.
She fakes a smile and presses her hips into his.
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides.
He's holding back from telling her
exactly what it really feels like.

He is the lamb, she is the slaughter.
She's moving way too fast and all he wanted was to hold her.
Nothing that he tells her is really having an effect.
He whispers that he loves her,
but she's probably only looking for...

(Up the stairs: the station where
the act becomes the art of growing up.)

So much more than he could ever give.
A life free of lies and a meaningful relationship.
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides.
He waits for it to end
and for the aching in his guts to subside.

Up the stairs: the station where
the act becomes the art of growing up.

whoa people really are heavy on green day :S

I have followed them from kerplunk and i think the development has been quite good. yes insomniac was probably their last 'punk' album, but what theyve done is to evolve and try new stuff out. The simplicity of boulevarde lyrics have to be taken into account, that its supposed to be listened to as a punk rock opera, that is everything joins together, after hearing teh whole album i was blown away, found myself listening to it on loops.

But i see where people are coming from and who cares if its mainstream or not, its music that obviously people like.

I didn't bother to read most of this. I'm sick to death of the whole "omg _____ isn't "punk" those posing tools". No one cares, get over it.
I like Simple Plan, plus David is so fucking hott, which never hurts.
But GREEN DAY... words fail, i LOVE Green Day, I love the old school stuff, i love the new album... i love it all.
I'm so excited about seeing them live at last...
Oh and go whoever quoted Brand New... I love 'The Quiet things that no one ever knows'

I think you're right.

I think I just read into the "It use to be the reason I breathed and now it's joking me up"

As in, he lived for sex (but still a virgin)? Hahaha.

I'd rather kick myself in the teeth while masturbating a bull terrier to orgasm than see Simple Plan live.
