I just finished Half Life 2! So proud of myself. But does ne1 know what the deal is with the ending? Theres the frozen explosion and then the G-Man comes.

what "Services" is G Man referring to that he has received offers from?

The ending to Half-Life 2 was quite possibly the biggest letdown ever. Even worse than being offered to join in with 2 chicks going at it, and then at the last moment let down.

1) My guess is that he puts you into another slow warp to await your next assignment.

2) Presumably Alyx dies and the Citadel is destroyed.

3) Probably a setup for the next game. Freeman is like a killer for hire now I figure.

just a guess. What I'm wondering is why the heck that guy in the suit was in so many scenes during the game. I tried shooting at the guy a few times, but they all missed. I reckon the whole thing was a setup to freeman. I dunno, HL has gone to the pits
The graphics however were cool... loved the gravity gun

Now that Gordon has helped push back the combine from Xen and Earth, It would be logical for the next game to be set on the Combine homeworld. But then again, G-man may allow Gordon to be used as a free agent, which would pad out the series.

PS I'm one of those people who think G-man is Gordon from the future.

Ugh. I didn't like the ending at all. It just seemed like a cheap way of creating excitement about Half Life 3.

But ending, and lack of exposition aside, it wasn't a bad game.

G-man is the true form of Gordon Freeman , the real man Gordon Freeman wanted to be , a calm business man getting on with life, but instead tossed into a whirlpool of calamities .

1) You go into another stasis period, like the one he put the soldier and Freeman in in HL1 and OpForce.
2) It's highly likely Alyx is also put into stasis like the soldier was. Notice G-man picking lint from her? Also, unless the stand-alone in development is set completely before the explosion, than Alyx definitely lives (you get to play as Dog and Alyx). The Citdel itself would crumble to ground and conceivably take out a fair chunk of City 17, if not all of it. Unless Alyx's father, Barney and others warped out, I would think they'd be dead. But it just wouldn't do if Barney died. I think they warped out.
3) G-man appears to be an alien either using a human host or taking the form of a human. Notice Dr. Breen was offered a host (presumably an alien, not a human) at the end? Notic G-man's lack of mastery of human language? His powers sort of give it away, too. G-man appears to be overall benign, and only meddling minimally in the affairs of humans - enough to ensure their survival as a species. It is likely G-man's superiors are enemies of the Combine. I've heard some mention of the Combine being the masters of the Xen Overlords, who were the masters of the Vortigaunts and other Xen creatures.

It is highly unlikely G-man is Gordan Freeman. The name is merely coincidence. Remember Valve didn't have this planned out when they made HL1. I think G-man was the model name of the mysterious businessman who kept observing you in HL1.

Hlaf-Life 3 will be the last of the series, last I heard. It will use the HL2 engine, so expect it much sooner than HL2.

The Half Life 2 ending was not a let down. It leaves so many options open. Half Life 3 is on the drawing boards. As for Alyx, I don't think she's dead; I heard you took on her role in the 3rd one.
