Thought it was going to be a waste of time. Was dead wrong. Crime fiction taught me a lot about life, about the way that the world works and the way that's changing, and is one of the few reasons I came to like English after years of being bored in junior high school (part of it was the teacher, another part Utopia in yr11 Extension)

I hear Individual and Society is good.
Wish i could do Post Modernism though....

You cant really tell if you havent explored all the options - CF is alright so far - a bit dull - we start The Real Inspector Hound next week, which should be interesting.

the skull beneath the skin is SO BORING RIGHT NOW.
i cannot stand it. i cant get past page 93. i keep falling asleep or wanting to vomit on the pages.

crime fiction as a topic has made me dislike crime fiction as a genre for reading. i used to read heaps...and now all i want to do is read ANYTHING BUT crime fiction. is that the goal of this subject? to fill our souls with hatred??

i like the concept of genre, but just am stinkingly sick of ext1 bullshit. i do it to get to ext2. LOVE EXT2!! LOVEEEEEEEE IT!

I loved crime fiction. My teacher and class were great, so I guess that's what made crime fiction enjoyable.

I loved it. I reckon it was funny because the conventions were so obvious.

Anil's Ghost will complicate things for sure...
I tried [again and again] to read it in the holisays.
Needless to say, i never got past 'trying'.

I'm not really a crime person, though I don't mind it every now and then. I would have liked to have done fantasy or something (if BOS allowed it), but that might have ruined the genre for me. Not being a really big cri-fi bloke stopped it from being wrecked, which was alright.

Inspector Hound was awesome. Anil was absolute crap.

Pure eloquence there. :D

On a side note, there is a rumour going around in my EE1 class than TBS has become a compulsory Crime Fiction text.
Is this true or false?

There are 4 texts set by the BoS. You must do 3 of them. That's what it was like for past years. I don't know if it has changed, though.

Maybe look at the syllabus to see if The Big Sleep is compulsory.
