HELP!! Annoying Pop ups (1 Viewer)

hey

i hope someone can help me???

I recently downloaded something, dont ask, i dont remember where and what!!!

Well anyway, there is now continually pop ups apearing while i am online and OFFLINE!!! They have a big stop sign, saying 'do you want to get rid of pop ups?' You can click on it and it goes to a website, where you can buy a software package.
How can i get rid of this annoying pop up, with out buying any software?? I have tried finding files and uninstalling it and that still has not worked!!!

On my desktop there is also icons to Eliminate pop ups, Internet privacy, and Yahoo, dont know how they got there either. I have gotten rid of them so many times and they just keep coming back.

Download AdAware and scan your computer for adware.

hehee.. back to chickadee, yeah, just run Adware and then after that.. if you don't have a firewall program, get one (e.g. ZoneLab).. if you want more security a content filter would work (e.g. WebWasher) and don't forget to get an Anti (oooooooooooooh, anti) I mean, Anti-Virus program (I suppose you have one!?!?) if you really don't have one.. The Google Toobar is pretty good at pop-ups O o.. I mean stopping pop-ups

Sometimes IE will automatically download and install programs if you've selected certain options (like if you click 'always trust...' when something offers to download itself). There may be a way to get around this (cookies?); if not, use another browser like Opera or Firefox.

i also have a huge prblem with pop ups! i down loaded and ran that Adaware thing, but im still getting them... Is there anything else i can get that doesn't cost money??

Update your Ad-Aware, much like you need to update your anti virus software once in a while.

The only other thing you can do is be more conscious of what you download and install into your computer.

IE is the worst browser ever, use Mozilla/Netscape/Opera or something else.

Some programs won't run correctly without the spyware also being installed.. have you installed anything recently about the same time the popups started appearing?

i posted in this thread like a year ago when i had a 'pop up' problem, and in the end i downloaded adaware and my computer was fixed. now im on a new computer and im getting them again except this time, when i try to download adaware it sends me back to a new home page that i cant change, which i think is called mysearch.com

if anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. its not that im adverse to teh odd pop up asking if im interested in gay anal porn, but every few minutes is a bit much.

u can use antivirus too - norton antivirus
has spyware removal as of version 2004

also get the google toolbar that blocks popups as well....

Its also good if u have XP to put the pop-up blocker on...the only thing u have to do 4 some sites is to allow pop ups...some sites need them but most dont
