what is the range of these functions assuming the domain in each case is all the real numbers which give meaning

(a) f(x)=x^3

((b) y=x^2+4

Its best to sketch the curves to find the range. Look for the set of y-values that the function is defined for
a) Range is all real y

b) This is a parabola cutting the y-axis at y = 4. The curve does not go below y = 4, so the range is y >or= 4

a) is pretty simple: the range and domain are all real numbers since its a curve which starts low and finishes high.
b) is a parabola with apex of (0,4) so the range is y>4
