Hey there, I have an interview tomorrow with the store manager at my local coles and I'm not sure what to expect. Can anyone please help me? What am I required to bring with me? What questions do they normally ask? Any assistance would be great!!!

I didnt expect anything.
I just brought myself and a copy of the resume I sent them.

Mine just asked me random questions about myself.
I think I just talked about my education, my other jobs, and how many random languages I can speak.. can't remember much anymore..
I was in and out in 10mins. Then told I was hired 2hrs later.

Perhaps take your birth certificate/passport etc for id. Also make sure you have your resume.

They'll probably ask you about school, extracurricular activities, etc. I presume that this is for a casual/pt position. If so, it won't be too intense. At least it shouldn't be.

The guy who interviewed me at coles asked me to bring my passport or birth certificate, and my school report.

When i was in the interview, he just looked at my passport and school reports, then he asked me why my geography teacher left some comments about me being unfocused, and he asked me why was that?

After that he told me how to do some stuff, ie how to clock on, and i was confused because i thought it was an interview. I took me a while to realise that i got the job after a 1 question interview.

Anyway, dont worry to much, just be yourself.

Bring the passport (if you have one), just so they know that you are an Australian Citizen. Don't be nervous, the fact you have an interview means that you've got through the 1st stage. Stay positive, say your flexible etc.

hey guys, thanks for your replies...

I had the nicest lady interviewing me and we got on really well. I got offered the job on the spot, and she said she had already chosen to employ me before the interview - she just wanted to have a chat about my position...which is:

Casual Checkout Service Assistant...

anyone know the pay rate for a 17-year old

Thanks

probably $12-13.... (anyone want to confirm that?)

They will give you a welcome pack with the pay rate clearly written on there.

I was thinking more along the lines of $11-12.

When I was 18, I was on $13 something.. and they've jacked up wages a little since then.. and each year it's about $2/hr difference..

So I'm guessing ~$11.

But on non-peak hours, checkouts is good pay for doing jackshit all.

Casuals get more than regular staff, though.
