Hi,
I'm currently in yr8 but have just received the application rejection for sg (sydney girls, entry into yr9 2026). I find (after doing the process twice) that i always struggle with the edutest. Sg is my dream skl so im going to try again for entry into yr10 next yr (when im in yr9). I haven't gotten my edutest marks for this yr back but I have my previous yrs ones. These are pretty bad and I know they are, I kinda just winged it and last yr i didnt want sg as much as I do now. Results for last yr are:
Ability test verbal reasoning-high average
Ability test numerical reasoning-low average
Achievement test reading comp-superior
Achievement test mathematics-low average
Achievement test written expression-superior

If u couldn't tell I struggle with math the most in these circumstances. I find my portfolio to be strong (zone cross country twice in a row, dance international summer schools, math Olympiad top 10% and top 25% in all of Australasia-have medal to prove, good reports, no marks under 90%, went to OC-I think 2nd in state or sm like that, and I currently go to a selective skl but it's only part selective-I'm in the selective stream tho, debating, public speaking medals etc), I just rlly need to study hard for the edutest. I find the timing to be rlly tricky and if im right thats the point. Anybody who has made it into Sg or a better skl and has good edutest results what did u do to study, any practise tests etc. I personally think the edutest practise tests are a scam, they are way easier than the acc test.

Thx for reading and I rlly appreciate ur help!!!!

Hey, feel free to PM us we have a lot of experience with the EduTest exams and have had students who have gotten NSG and SG offers for Y10 entry. We do have free resources available such as sample exams, You can also check out our results via our website here:

I actually did EduTest to transfer for yr9 jr and I'd say your portfolio will nearly guarantee you to pass the interview section as long as you pass the test - needless to say, if I was in your position, i might even be considering to apply for a school like jr (there's a class of 30 which you might get in). Basically, your verbal reasoning and english related subjects are actually great. On the other hand, I see you struggle a lot in mathematical related subjects. For numerical reasoning, I know the time is really tight and I personally struggled to do it though I still got into interview and passed - you DO NEED TO DO PRACTICE TESTS AND REPEAT but no fret, you'll kind of get used to it anyways. Mathematics is an area you must significantly improve on as it is in fact the easier counterpart of numerical reasoning (i.e. a lot of it is basic algebra and stuff) SO ALSO DO PAST TESTS - also the standard of math in this section should have already been learnt if you're considering to even be at least average at sg.

Thx for the tips! Jr is way too far away for me and but thx for saying I would have a chance lol. I acc just got my results this yr for the edutest and one of my math significantly improved (now a high average instead of low average).
For ability tests (potential) verbal reasoning above average up from high average, numerical reasoning above average up from low average
TESTS OF ACHIEVEMENT (PERFORMANCE)- Reading Comprehension superior, the same, mathematics average, up from low average, Written Expression high average down from superior.

In my opinion if it wasn't for the average in math I might've made the interview. What past tests did u do? And what practise tests did u do?
