well it doesnt have to directly link to identity, so i'd just put objects (perhaps "found objects") that are revelant to you in your socio-cultural context - for example your (fixed) attributes: gender, position in the family constellation, race and the socially determined attributes such as your education, sexual orientation... the ideas behind identity and the self is pretty... "simple", but you can make it sophisticated by approaching it from your own unique angle: perhaps, do you believe that sexuality is innate (mapped in our minds since we're born) or 'constructed' by society... these are my 2 cents
