i was just doing revision and gotta lots of questions to ask

Ex1. a train travels at 10m/s around a bend shaped in the arc of a circle of radius 100m
a) Calculate the resualtant force acting on the train
b)Calculate the centripetal force acting on the train
in this case, are the resultant force and centripetal force the same?

i think so... the centripetal force is applied by the outter rail of the train as a form of normal force: train pushes the outer rail out wards, newton's 3rd law, the rail push it inwards with same magnitude of force...

that is, if the train is on a frictionless rail...

uhm... i don't know abt 2nd+ year physics, but in 1st year, u hardly learn any centripetal at all... well not that much any way... the only thing i can associate with centripetal is the angular momentum... which in this case is not much use...
