So i'm writing up my notes,and i don't exactly understand the prac:
"describe Hertz's observation of the effect of a radio wave on a receiver and the photoelectric effect he produced but failed to investigate"
I've gone through my class notes and textbook and uhh, i don't completely understand it, so here i am looking for some help, maybe someone could explain it to me in a more colloquial manner :)

- Maxwell predicted accelerating charges would create electromagnetic waves
. He stated these waves (E.M waves) travelled at the speed of light and consisted of mutually
perpendicular and electric fields (Just memorize it)
- The existence of such waves was demonstraed experimentally by Hertz in 1887
. His exp. consisted of a primary coil and a receiver coil
. Induction coil was used to provide a high voltage to the primary coil
. The gap in the primary coil resulted in EM waves just as MAXWELL predicted
. A spark jumped across the gap and was seen in the receiver coil
. Hertz also noticed when UV light was shone on the receiving coil.. the spark would increase
> this was the photoelectric effect however he did not pursue this phenomenon
