one guy at school once printed out the longest known version of pi

it was 5230 pages of a4 pages just chockablock with numbers

although i don't see how that would even get close to a billion

3850 numbers can fit on 1 page
so thats 20 million odd digits

*Bows to down math God*

Really not something I would admit to.

I can only remeber this much: 3.14159265359796. Slightly longer than a calc screen ...

My physics teacher boasts he can recite Pi to 200 places and that he learnt e to 100 when he was walking to school one day when he was a teenager.

(he is the splitting image of the 70's 'academic' stereotype, pen in shirt pocket, checkered tie, glasses, short, has a comb in his pocket to keep his hair split at a constant 3/4 ratio, loves integrals and mental arithmetic, does experiments to measure the value of g correct to 10 dec places. overexplains science and never actually answers the question, a Trekky,..... he's 'nerd' incarnate) although one thing that he doesn't do is NYAHHnnmHAI!

oh and btw, i don't want to boast, but i've got Pi in my head to 150 digits. You never know when aliens will come to earth and the only way to save your planet is by reciting 150 digits of pi. Or more likely, there will be this extremely hot girl that will have sex with anyone who knows the most pi. uh huh. yup.

You know... when you were doing anything with circles... The real question is when would you ever need to know pi to more than 2 decimal places.

Personally, the decimal points give me the irks, I much prefer the cool way to remember pi:

[3,7,15,1,292,1,1,1,2,1,3,1,14,2,1,1,2,2,2,2,1,84,2,1,1,15,3,13,1,4,2,6,6,99,1,2,2,6,3,5,1,1,6,8,1,7,1,2,3,7,1,2,1,1,12,1,1,1,3,1,1,8,1,1,2,1,6,1,1,5,2,2,3,1,2,4,4,16,1,161,45,1,22,1,2,2,1,4,1,2,24,1,2,1,3,1,2,1, ...]

Which can give you useful fractions rather than crappy decimal places.
