yo, i go to this local public high school run by the gvnt... students in my school usually do badly in hsc. last year our highest uai was 86.5 and only 4~5 students cracked their uai above 80's..

my final rankin and esitimated assessment mark :

eng esl 80% (1/18) trial:73%
physics 70% (2/16) trial: 53%
economics 75% (2/10) trial: 75%
maths ext1 84% (1/5) trial: 70% T.T
maths ext2 65% (1/2) trial: 68%

that was not a typo, we have exctly FIVE students doing 3u maths and TWO students doing 4u maths (and the only 2 for the past decade =S)

those rankins look pretty decent, but i got them only bcoz the rest of school r doing extremly bad.. i havent been studying much all year, n theres only a month til hsc =S. just wondering if u ppl think its possible for me to get 92+uai? (base on if i study insanely during the last month) i Really want to do Bcom in Unsw as acturial studies is the only course that i have interest in..

btw ive heard rumer sayin if the rest of my school do badly in hsc, my marks also get scaled down... is this true? or does it only apply if their assesment mark is higher than mine? if is the 2nd one, then i wont have to worry

well since your ranked first for almost everything, its really up to you now to acheive what you want. you wont be pulled down since you're first ranked in most of your subjects. school does not really matter for you know, coz of ur ranks.

i got 53% for my trial, but above 80% for the rest of my assessment tasks (experiments n reports).

trial worths 40/100 --> 53% of 40/100 --> 21/100
rest worths 60/100 --> 80% of 60/100 --> 48/100

so its sumwhere around 69/100...

man, i started readin the physics textbook the month b4 trial n i managed to come 2nd in my school =S, the rest of them r seriously not tryin.

so as long as u come 1st, the rest of school wont affect ur hsc marks?

what about 4 unit maths. bcoz there're only 2 students doing course, say if i came 2nd in assessments, but my hsc mark is higher than the other guy.. does my mark get pulled down at the end? my teacher says it doesnt matta if there're only 2~3 students doin the course, they wont pull ur marks down.. is it tru?

it doesnt realy matter what the assessments marks the send, rather the relative differences between ranks. so do u know if the first ranked in physics has a huge gap in front of you in terms of the total cumulative assessment marks? was he owning you in most of the assessments?

mmm i dunno, my teacher said im not alot behind.. but he did beat me by around 10% in trial =(

you seem ok with everything else. remember you're doing 10 units, so you have to do every subject well. while your ranking for physics is good, the mark isn't. so you'll probaby have to work on physics in my opinion i think.

yea i gotta work on my physics... actually i gotta work on my english more, coz i knew the answer to most questions in the exam (85%+ ) but i wasnt able to explain properly, sir said he didnt like the way how i beat around the bush most of the time.
