bored so ill write an unprofessional review like i did for splendour

Arrived. People trying to SELL me timetables, 5 bucks each, figured they would obviously have them in the festival for free, i was wrong. they were 5 bucks each at the merch stand wtf.

walked around at the start as no bands i wanted to see were on, sussed the place out, went to the cinema tent which was boring. Ratings are based on what I saw and percieved obviously

Number Station - caught like half a song of these kids, wasn't impressed, but they seem to have alot of attention. 3/10

Red Eye Society - didn't really watch them but was waiting outside of the tent where they were playing at and could hear them well, hip hop stuff, actually sounded allright, well the beats anyway. The lyrics and flow sounded boring and generic, not captivating at all. But I was relieved to hear the sound im so accustomed to. 4/10

Expatriate - got right up the front for this one. Loved them at splendour. Few people on bos said they were pretentious cunts on stage, yeah, they probably are. Looked like pretentious cunts, lead singer is hawt . Great performance though, they weren't drunk at all as far as i could tell. But this chick who tried to fkn dance floor rape me was, fkn stumbling everywhere and then she comes and starts rubbing up on me and im like 'help me gloria this bitch is crazy and wierd'. Anyway aside from the speculation that they probably are pretentious cunts (which really shouldnt matter at all as long as they put on a good performance) i could find no major flaw.

best song: the spaces between

7/10

Operator Please - as much as i find these kids to be rather annoying i was outvoted, plus there weren't any other good bands on at the time. So i went to this. If you like their music, you would have liked this performance. I don't dislike their music entierly though, 'song about ping pong' was very very fun because of the mosh.

There was this seedy damage inc/serius looking guy in the crowd, real nerdy guy, feeling up all the girls in the crowd, like ALL of them, the girls looked so scared and me and 2 other guys i was talking to in the crowd kept egging him on like 'she wants ya bro' etc. was quite entertaining, more than the performance.

best song: two for my seconds

5.5/10

kisschasy - ok well im not a fan at all. may i just say that people are there to enjoy the music and have fun. not be on guard, having their attention torn between the music and the group of bogans tackling each other to the floor and punching each other (for fun) in middle of the crowd. Some girls next to me got tackled to the floor because some guy fell into them who ran into his friend and bounced back off him. One of them started crying. The bogans then started chanting 'aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi' ok. they are embarassments to this beautiful country. and anyone who is impressed by their behaviour is just as bad as them.

now onto the music. boring, not captivating. but their last song was fun.

best song: opinions wont keep you warm at night

4/10

bumblebeez - these guys are fucking wierd. i think they try too hard to be eclectic in both their on-stage personas and their music. Even though it works with their music, there on-stage presence would be just as good without them trying to stand out. Was right in the middle of the mosh for this and it was rather boring to start off with, but when they kicked into their more known songs like dr love and rio the crowd went nuts and it was definently fucking awesome. they even did one of their songs over the beat for 'gimme more' by britney spears lol. also their DJ is so fucking good, and she is fucking hot too.

best song: dr love, pump up the bass

6.5/10

Midnight Juggernauts - one of my most anticipated on the day. They took REALLY long to set up though which pissed everyone off. The mosh was absolutely crazy fun. I went absolute ape shit when road to recovery came on, same as into the galaxy. Each song was done well live on their instruments.

best song: road to recovery, tombstone, into the galaxy

8/10

muscles (set 1) - he split his set up into two 30 minute sets. I only caught the first one as i had to go quick before paul dempsey started on another stage. He did sweaty first which was so fun and awesome and perfect. Then he did hey muscles i love you, the lake and marshmellowz. Seems like such a happy laid back chilled guy

best song: sweaty

7.5/10

cut copy - i left after 4 songs to catch paul dempsey. what i heard were lesser known songs that i havent really given a chance. but zap zap was played and it was brilliant. pity i didnt get to hear saturday or hearts on fire.

best song: zap zap

6/10

paul dempsey
- I am very biased towards something for kate as I have been in love with them since their first album. It was just dempsey with his acoustic guitar, supported by some dude i didnt know who played the violin when it was needed or 2nd guitar when it was needed. He sang so beautifully, his voice makes my soul smile. I was so gay for him  a tear even fell from my eye when he sang 'you only hide' which is my fav song of theirs, and he did it perfectly. I was mesmerized. California sounds SO FUCKING GOOD acoustic as well. HOLY FUCK IT WAS SO GOOD

best song: you only hide, california, pinstripe

10/10

Missy Higgins - I caught a bit of missy after paul dempsey finished. Was no where near the stage but could hear her. I am by no means a fan, however i love 'the special two' as most people do, makes me sad though :(. she sounded brilliant though. If you are a fan of her music you would have loved this. The crowd was really into her especially when she sang scar, the crowd sang the whole 3rd verse in unision, it sounded really good. I remember seeing her live when she was supporting john butler trio a few years ago, I really do not like 99.9% of her music, but i can't deny that theres no real flaw in her live acts.

best song: special 2

from my perspective: 5.5/10

if i was a fan/from a fans perspective: 8/10

Architecture In Helsinki -
saw basically all their performance as they started alot later then they were supposed to due to tech difficulties. I really did not like them at all. Songs sounded really annoying and their were too many instruments that did not work well together trying to play at once. It sounded just like some noise with a girl saying really incoherent things out loud. They did heart it races last and everyone got into it, im a fan of the song, it was really fun during that song though. Their other stuff just isn't captivating though.

best song: heart it races

3/10

PNAU
- oh i only recently got into them via their new album and the catchy 'wild strawberries' They took awhile to start as well. The lead vocalist, you could tell easily, was so fucking drunk. He basically started saying things that didnt make sense without any music on and got the whole crowd to keep clapping and chanting 'yeahhhhhhhh.'

once the music came on though and the beat kicked in I was blown away with how fucking amazing it was. It was so hard not to dance to their fun tracks.

Confetti rained down from above and over 20 beach-ball sized balloons were thrown out into the crowd and everyone was jumping up and hitting them and they kept bouncing off each other in the air, it was such a fucking nice touch.

It was so damn fun though, perfect for what it was. I definently cannot wait until i see them again at bdo

some shirtless adlay cunt climbed the rafters thinking he was cool but the promoter threatened to shut down the show so the lead singer of pnau was like 'get the fuck down u shit cunt ur runing the show for everyone' everyone kept booing the adlay cunt and throwing cans at him and shit, when he finally dedicded to come down heaps of people tried to hit him but security escorted him out. Fucking RETARD

best song: wild strawberries, with you forever, baby

9/10

it was so perfect seeing all these dancy acts from juggers, then paul dempsey for a chilled relaxing BEAUTIFUL performance, then back to pnau for FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN

overall: 8.5/10

I liked it alot.

cool story: some massive stereotypical bogan cunt, ala bra boy type was sitting down, obviously coming down off something. He started talking to gloria like 'what did you say huh' when she didnt say anything. My mate started talking to him then and the bogan made no sense, was saying something about pills. We suddenly smelt this horrible smell, like shit.

The bogan got up to walk away and we saw that he had taken a shit in his fkn pants.

It was funny...a big massive 'thug' type cunt shitting his pants.
