The problem with accepting things based on faith, as opposed to evidence, is that it gives us no way of evaluating and differentiating faith based claims.

Why should we not have faith in Allah, Zeus, the FSM ect?

Why should we choose your god as the one to have faith in, and ignore all others?
We recognise that all different faiths have elements of truth to them. We do not insist that followers of the other religions will burn in hell if they have led good lives that followed the golden rules to love God and love all others in the same way that you love yourself. This love and hope is what gives our faith a truely universal character.

But Catholics agree with you. Faith must be matched with reason and should never seek to deny it. Indeed, we claim God as reason and Truth personified. But I think that it's important to note that youre not claiming any 'reason' to prove that God does not exist, but rather a 'lack' of reason with which to make a scientific claim.

no they are bible believing christian there is heaps the bible to suggest that noone is good, we are all sinners and it is only through jesus we are saved
This is where the doctrine of purgatory comes in. If you fail to find Jesus through some fairly innocent negligence, you are not condemned to an eternity of Hell, but you are also not eligible for admitance into heaven for some time. This brings a certain realism into our hope; it is a hope for the human beings we actually are

Ok. Well that makes more sense, though its not what a lot of Christfags believe.

I don't need to prove that god does not exist. That which is asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

Prove Kim Jong-Il doesn't have magic powers.

Prove the FSM monster is not real ect.

We can make all sorts of claims without evidence, that by definition, can be disproved. It does not give us any reason to believe them.
Lol but surely youre insisting on a kind and type of evidence that cannot, by definition, be proven. What works to satisfy the Will to Truth of each human being is subjective and unique. The point is that if youre open to seeking Truth, you will find it.

You have a choice to embrace him or decline him. If you have declined him you can hardly expect to be able to experience faith.
But didn't you say that faith isn't a choice earlier? I can't see how anyone would come to any conclusion but this. Despite my best effort, I just can't believe in God. I think it would be really nice to believe in God, but I don't. Not my fault.

tbh, lack of "evidence" is no excuse, he has given you all the evidence you need, if you are not satisifed with that then that is your problem
Maybe he's given you all the evidence you need, but that is not the case for me. Again, it's not a case of satisfaction with evidence. Faith, by definition, is not something to be proven. Every single religion will, in some respect, require people to go past the realms of reasons and believe in something that can't be proven.

because God has revealed himself to us, well obviously not to you but to me an iron..
Well lucky you. You're God sure does seem like a dick.

I also said there is alot of chicken and the egg in play.A bit like climate change, sceptics and deniers are inherently inclined to see faults in the theories and will struggle, far more so than someone who believes but merely wants to understand, to see how it is happening.

On 16 February, the church announced its plans (since removed from their site) to travel to Melbourne to picket the National Day of Mourning at the Rod Laver arena. In a televised address, Fred Phelps stated that "[t]he fag-infested land of Australia is burning. The fire of God's wrath is sending hundreds of those filthy Australian beasts straight to hell. We at Westboro Baptist Church are rejoicing and we are praying for the dear Lord to burn many more Australians alive." A more offensive, distasteful and insensitive comment is hard to imagine.

What is also striking about the Phelps' plans is the fact that they were intending to travel all the way from Kansas in the middle of the United States, to Melbourne, down here in the South Pacific, a distance of 15,000 kilometres, just to tell us that God hates us. People in Victoria organising a memorial service for their loved ones had absolutely no effect on the lives of church-goers in Topeka, Kansas.

It was none of their business, yet the Phelpses decided to make it their business. The whole plan was bizarre in the extreme.

Fortunately, for reasons unknown, the Phelps never arrived in Australia, but their pronouncements created a small furore in the media in Victoria with many people writing to the newspaper, posting on the internet and calling talk-back radio to condemn the Phelps clan and their extreme homophobia. Wayne Swan, the treasurer, called Fred Phelps' comments "repugnant and disgusting". I agreed with him of course, but I was also reminded of American History X. The Phelps clan is an easy target. And while it's one thing to rail with righteous indignation against such extremists, it's another thing to realise that you too are guilty of hurting people through your own homophobia.

The reason I say this is because many of those people who condemned the Phelpses on the one hand also oppose same-sex marriage on the other hand, and vote for parties that uphold that position: notably the ALP and the Liberal/National coalition.

When same sex couples in Australia who want to get married hear their political leaders telling them that they shouldn't be allowed to, their reaction is pretty much the same as the reaction of most Victorians to the Phelps clan. "We're trying to live our lives in the best way we can. If we get married, that will have no effect on you or your lives. You've decided to make our relationship your business, but it's really none of your business."

Everywhere that same-sex civil marriage has been introduced around the world, courts and governments have stressed that there is simply no reason to prohibit it because it has no effect on other people. It gives rights to those who want them and takes nothing away from anyone else. So just as most Victorians found the Phelps' plans to picket their memorial service offensive and unwarranted, so many same sex couples in Australia find their exclusion from marriage equally offensive and unwarranted.
Seemed like the place to put it.

I cannot emphasis this any harder, even though it may sound absurd but whenever I read the word "church" I don't actually read the word "church"; I read "anti freedom".

I understand to many this is a fascinating phenomenon bordering that of the resurrection of Jesus himself, but the beauty about embracing freedom is your brain systematically sees what is freedom and what is not.
