Horizontal asymptotes are when y=a, a some constant
Vertical are when x=b, b some constant.

To find vertical solve the denominator for zero.

To find horizontal, find the limit as x-> infinity, I believe.

He's talking of inflexion points :p

Horizontal is where you have a horizontal tangent and point of inflexion coinciding
Vertical (haven't heard of that before) is where you have a vertical tangent and a point of inflexion coinciding.
