Foam Cups - Cheap, light weight, heat insulator, not chemically active.

Surfboards - Rigid, Cheap, light weight, resisitant to water.

I think by "properties" he means chemical properties... As in, why it is resistant to shock.

Anybody want to clarify?
Do you need to explain why a polymer is hard for example.
I.e. do you need to explain about intermolecular forces or branching?

Or saying it is rigid is enough (or something like that)

i think ur answers good enuf, considering it is only two marks, and no i dont think properties is relating to WHY it is hard, properties relate to stuff like 'hard, rigid, or flexible, etc.'
i think if its 3/4 marks then ul need to touch on it

There are a few questions where you need to get examples like but it's quite confusing. I mean, when considering which polymer has the suitable properties to produce certain things, I find their properties are certainly overlapping each other. Should we give just some suggestions that a polymer can be used for this or that because of this and that???

I think it would be suitable to firstly mention what the polymer is used for eg PVC used for plastic piping. Then mention the properties that makes it suitable eg hard and ridged. Then the chemical makeup of the polymer eg. Large side chain/functional group that gives it the properties to be used this way.
Hope it helps.
Cheers.

Um, do we have to explain why they use PVC but not HDPE or PS for certain products? I mean PVC is quite good since we can use some additives to change its physical properties slightly but see this, people explain that PVC is hard so it's used for piping but how about PS? It's obviously much more rigid and inert!

its only 2marks my friend u dont need to write a long saga about it
list its uses
explain it in terms of its properties, like its rigidity etc.

id just say
polystyrene foam:
- insulating cups, ice boxes, take away containers: hydrocarbon gases get trapped in the foam. lightweight insulator.
- body boards/surf boards: lightweight, low-density, buoyant.

polystyrene hard solid:
- audio casette cases: hard, clear, rigid
- television cabinets/wall tiles: with colouring agent/product additives, can be hard, strong, rigid.
