one thing i noticed abt physics (or maybe y11 in general) is that the marking is so fucked😭
year 10 markers really made us feel like geeks

honestly big thing about science subjects is just practicing how to answer questions logically, this way you can prevent losing one or two marks per question due to shtty marking TT

I got a HSC mark of 83. I would have gotten higher if I had read questions better and understood Lenz's law more.

Module 6 is the more difficult module compared to other modules.
yeah i got the same mark. i really hated that exam though. there was way too much long response/writing questions and i just couldnt be bothered for the mc i think i got quite bad there. Definitely not a reflection of my physics ability. I was telling my older brother 2024 graduate how his paper was so much more blessed

yup, your paper was just a shitty Modern History paper. Fuck the writers. I felt the same way with the 2024 paper comparing it to the 2023 paper lol. 2025 is way worse though

that's way too low for a shitass history paper. needs to be 85 just for the pure lack of intelligence required for such a low quality paper tbh
looking at raw marks data base it seems to be around 80 ie 77-89. somehow i would have thought it was higher aswell

Interesting....
I'm looking for a better textbook because science in focus over elaborates alot in general across all 3 sciences
i used excel primarily solid for learning and understanding on ur own when u have a shitty teacher and class. The checkpoints cambridge textbook i found very useful. It has all hsc and some extra questions for each module and topic, separated. I know u can just go through a past paper but when i was practising specific modules , particularly those i was weak in, it was very helpful

i think the notes are fine - but for me i normally prefer having my notes digital so i can make modifications for certain topics if i encounter something helpful as im reading further. Also, whenever i learnt a new term i always broke it down to understand why its called that (idk if thats too much, but i literally can not learn something new if i dont understand why its called that πŸ’€). For example, mutation: mutatio, meaning "a changing" and then i'd like to link it with that actual definiton so a change in the DNA sequence. I would send my notes over but our school literally disabled my email so i cant access my drive πŸ’”

i remember trying tutoring for phys and chem tutoring once and i got like 36% in the exams. i dont think they rlly tell you whether u can b6 or not and i dont think it actually is a studying issue, i think its just that tutoring crams stuff so quick that it doesnt give time for people who take time to understand to actually understand so i quit lol

Personally, I think tutoring for science is quite overrated. Istg half my grade goes to insane places (Hence all the bragging I hear when someone joins or changes places) but they underperform as hell. I've always thought that going to tutions gives people a fake sense of confidence bc then nobody listens at school thinking they know the content and then for all 3 sciences the average is 60 percent or less.....

Only thing I go tutoring for is math now just cause im trash at the subject(hopefully my work in the holidays will pay off) and sometimes I get taught stuff for chemistry here and there from the same person if I'm unsure
rightttt so many kids in my class talk half the time so its like what is the point of going there πŸ’€ but i think that sense of confidence stems alot from the fact that half the kids were shoved in tutoring during primary for selective but ended up burning themselves out in high school...i see it alot

I like making my notes on paper bc for some reason writing them online takes even longer, the formatting bugs me so much. I also think that they are easier to make, read and memorise when handwritten cause every day I read the notes of 1 subject for 10 minutes before sleeping. Its also easier to access at school bc its a pain to use my 2017 ahh laptop with its pathetic 1.5 hour battery life... Last term for biology and chemistry I had made my notes online and it was a pain in every way possible.... Oh ye and normally I just slap in sticky notes in the rare occurrences of extra info coming up.

But I'll definetly take the advice on the word breakdowns thanks a lot for taking the time to check through! πŸ™

This is actually dissappointing. I thought I did well in the Physics exam. :(. View attachment 51401

I got a HSC examination mark of 85. What a disgusting result. Worked so hard all for nothing just to get some mark in the 70s.
i think you still got a really good result. all that hard work definitely wasnt for nothing.

Yeah, but it means I hardly improved compared to trials (got 70/100 for trial exams). I also did better when I was practising trial exams/ HSC exams (got a mode mark of 80/79/81, with outliers of 97 and 55). Maybe I was marking to leniently though.

I guess one piece of advice is to go ahead of the class as much as possible in Physics, especially if your school is slow/not high ranked.
maybe it was because of exam pressure? or maybe the exam itself was just really difficult compared to what you did before.
either way, improvement of any kind is still worth celebrating.
