how do you learn big courses? e.g. chem
do you write out what you learn, say it, read your notes

and after, can you just roll off the whole course off by heart?

Ummm... I normally write everything down (summaried), then read
it over and over again...
I find listening to them on a tape really crap... It doesn't work for me :(

It all depends what the course is. Say for Community & Family studies all I really have to do is write the syllabus out or read it over again but history, because there's so much to know, I write summaries under the dot points. As for english, I learn my quotes first.

At the moment, I'm studying Biology and IPT, and I do this by going through my textbooks and writing down headings or dot points that I know I'm having trouble with.
Then, I write a paragraph or two on each item, until I'm comfortable with everything in the textbook.

With English, I write mini-essays (a complete introduction, dot-pointed body and a complete conclusion), rather than normal essays, because I have an extremely short attention span. :p

I'm starting with notes. Mainly essay practice though, because I suck at 'em.

And honky? Your Av scares me ;)

I was a syllabus follower (except for maths of course).

English was my strongest subject. Practice essays is all i can say, get some quotes installed into your brain, and learn to write considerably extended responses.

best way i found to study for chem n phys was to write down the dot point, and write a summary of it in my own words ... doing that for EVERY DOT PT in the syllabus.
most questions askd in the exams are directly derived from dot points

Dot point summaries all the way... its tedious but at least you know you've covered everything!
I just keep going over them and over them, keep summarising them down and do mind maps, flashcards etc... anything to just keep going over it!
Past papers aswell... do as many as you can!

sciences are also useful... especially if u get books like success one (it has hsc questions as well as other questions)
