I will get a return (thank goodness... I thought I wouldn't).

I'm still waiting on the current job I have to give me a group certificate, but I earnt $14,551 from work AND centrelink.

(thank goodness I got centrelink to keep some for tax, it was such a pain to me last financial year)

Anyway, I'll get a return of like $20 approx. Just waiting on this group cert. But that's without all the sexy deductions.

You can work it out in a basic way with this calculator here:

http://calculators.ato.gov.au/script...putDetails.asp

The estimated amount of tax you will need to pay will be on the grey bar

Haven't got my Group Certificate yet though

um, if anyone could help me, it would be appreciated.

I am on youth allowance and I did work in the last financial year for a total of $528.24 income earnt, with like around $45 tax withheld. Do I still need to lodge a tax form?
When I told centrelink about my income, they put it to that income bank thingo so they didnt reduce my YA benefit, so in regards to taxation, does that mean YA is a taxable income, or just the money I earnt?

Your youth allowance is taxable income yes, you have to put that on your tax return.

Pretty sure you'll get a group certificate from them shortly. I just got mine.

well, last year we got them 2 weeks later, i.e. 14th of july, but u have 2 wait longer unless u specifically ask for them, 'cause they're kept locked in the cash office

edit: and how the fuck is every1 getting such large tax returns!

I think I'll get something in the 2k area. Since starting work last August I've made $20,202 and paid 3.5k in tax, so my flatmate/boss (who is doing my tax return for me) thinks I'll get most of it back :)
