Not yet at Uni, but I applied for a B commerce in the gateway program for UNSW. Shortly after, I had a realization I wanted to do B commerce/ B comp sci instead and obviously I can't change. Is there a way I could email and ask to change, or would I just do an IPT at Uni after a year. Because it's a double degree, would the first year courses be the same anyway, so technically I wouldn't "waste" a year ?

I would assume that the first year subjects will be different as comp sci and commerce are two different disciplines so they'll have different subjects that teach you about that discipline.
Also I would recommend asking your question to UNSW's future student's team as they're more likely to know the answer to that question and can probably help you through the process of changing.
