Well you heard wrong. If you want distinctions in first year commerce at unsw, you will have to work for it. I remember my microeconomics lecturer telling us that one third of the class in session 2 had failed it the previous session, and if it was easy to get D's there wouldnt be that many people getting < 50. Having said that, if you put the work in over the whole session theres nothing stopping anyone from getting a D average.
